The Patio Landscaping

Landscaping, patio, adding, adds, Patio Landscaping, the patio

Landscaping your patio area is something that you can change every year if you want to. If you want to add a new patio or make over an old patio, then you need to start with a fresh surface of brick, concrete, or stone. This foundation will give you a great place to begin your landscaping to make it into a place for your whole family to hang out and enjoy.

Patio Hardscaping
The materials that you use for your patio are entirely up to you and your desires. Depending upon your personal preference, any hard material will do, including rock, brick, stone, concrete, or even tile. You want to choose a material that best fits your family’s style and functional needs. Any of the above materials will work great for your patio landscaping and will give you a beautiful and durable patio for your family to enjoy.

Your New Patio
When beginning your patio landscaping, you first want to build forms to allow you to add height to the patio perimeter. This additional height will help to give the foundational support that you need. It is important that you make this height even with the doorway to the entrance of your home. Keep the edges smooth and make sure that there are not any nails sticking out from the sides of the patio.

After you have completed the forms for your patio, you are at the point where you can add some movement. If you want curves, then you can use bender board to add curves to your patio area. Bender board is made from plastic and can be moved and curved easily. You will want to add stakes every 12 to 18 inches around the bender board to help keep the shape. Adding curves and movement will make your patio look more fun and creative.

Adding Your Flooring Materials
Now you are ready to add your flooring materials. Follow the directions for the material that you chose and carefully install them as you desire. You can use your creativity to place the material in any way that you want, just make sure that they are securely placed.

Finishing Touches
If you want to make your patio more welcoming and inviting, then you may want to consider adding flowers and shrubs to your landscaping plan. This will help to add color to your patio. You will find that there is a great assortment of plants and flowers that you can use for your patio landscaping. You can do a clean, simple line of flowers or you can choose the use a more creative way to place your plants and flowers. It is entirely up to you.

Potted Plants
If you are not interested in planting flowers around your patio, you can still add color to your patio area with potted plants. They are easy to take care of and you can place them wherever you like. Fun, unique pots can help to add interest to your patio landscaping and can help make it a fun and welcoming place for your entire family to enjoy.
